ABOUT DILJOT SINGH RAI
Diljot Singh Rai has a deep-rooted connection to Central Unified, having come up through the district himself. Over the past 4 years in CUSD, Diljot has turned frustration into action, advocating at board meetings for equity after his own high school became overcrowded, then gathering 602 signatures in a single week to help secure CUSD's first-ever Student Trustee position, later pushing the board to pass a more equitable lunch schedule and fairer grading and exam retake policies, and expanding student options by advocating for Spanish classes in summer school.
As a Student Family Coordinator, Diljot works directly with youth and families across the Valley. With a track record of showing up to board meetings and getting real policy passed, not just promises, Diljot is running for Central Unified School Board, Area 7, to make sure every student and parent has a real voice in the decisions that shape their education.
Diljot’s Priorities
Expansion of Career Technical Education
Develop more pathways so every student graduates with real options, whether that's college, a trade, or direct entry into the workforce. Pushing for real certification pathways in welding, woodworking, plumbing, agriculture, and more, alongside strong college-prep support, to make sure no student is left without a plan after graduation.
Student & Family Voice, and Student Safety
Develop more pathways so every student graduates with real options, whether that's college, a trade, or direct entry into the workforce. Pushing for real certification pathways in welding, woodworking, plumbing, agriculture, and more, alongside strong college-prep support, to make sure no student is left without a plan after graduation.
Improve District-Wide Literacy Rates
A student who isn't reading by third grade spends the rest of school catching up. We must implement a system where credentialed teachers can tutor students for free after school, giving every student real access to the extra support they need.
Fiscal Responsibility & Transparency
Parents are often never made aware of campus issues, creating a lack of transparency. Increasing school-to-parent, district-to-parent, and teacher-to-parent communication to bridge the gaps between the education system and families is key.
